Integrated English Language Practice (IELP) I (Wed. 10-12)

DozentIn: Andrew Jones, B.A., M.Phil.

Veranstaltungstyp: Seminar

Ort: 41/105

Zeiten: Mi. 10:00 - 12:00 (wöchentlich)

Beschreibung: IELP I courses are devoted to explaining and practicing specific grammatical topics and to acquiring sound vocabulary learning habits. With regard to grammar, the main course aim is to enable students to make conscious use of lexico-grammatical rules in their own active language use, as well as being able to both understand and explain the rules of English grammar. Further aims of the course include expanding students’ vocabulary and developing their mistakes identification and correction skills.

- The first half of each class session will be devoted to answering any questions students might have about the relevant grammar and to practicing the grammatical rules in an appropriately constrained way (e.g. through gap-filling). In order to accomplish this, each student is required to become part of a working group which will create and carry out one student-led class session of. approx. 45 minutes.
- The second 45 minutes will enable students to ask any questions they may have about the online vocabulary and mistakes correction quizzes they will be taking every week on Moodle. Students will then engage in further, more complex tasks in order to broaden their understanding of the session's grammar topic.
- In the penultimate week of class, there will be a comprehensive grammar, vocabulary and mistakes correction test; the answers to this test will be discussed in the final session.
