DozentIn: Dr. phil. Elisabeth Reichel

Veranstaltungstyp: Seminar

Ort: 41/E07

Zeiten: Mo. 16:00 - 18:00 (wöchentlich)

Beschreibung: This seminar takes a deep dive into the novels of Kim Stanley Robinson, one of today's foremost writers of science and speculative fictions. Thematically, Robinson's novels prominently feature questions of economic justice, climate change, and the role of the sciences. Through the lens of Robinson's writing and seminal theories of science fiction and speculative fiction, students learn about the aesthetics, discourses, and cultural functions of these genres, as well as enhance their close reading skills and ability to conduct critical textual analyses (competence-oriented learning). They are required to
- carefully read primary and secondary texts and take notes before class
- actively participate in the discussion in class
- give a presentation [Studiennachweis] or write a term paper [Prüfungsleistung]
All primary and secondary literature will be announced in class.
