Dystopian novels

DozentIn: Stefanie Fricke

Veranstaltungstyp: Seminar

Ort: (Big Blue Button)

Zeiten: Do. 08:00 - 10:00 (wöchentlich)

Beschreibung: The OED defines “dystopia”, the opposite of “utopia”, as “An imaginary place or condition in which everything is as bad as possible.” In this seminar we will look at the development of dystopian fiction from the nineteenth century onwards before analyzing four novels as well as dystopias in other media. Special emphasis will be on how the novels project contemporary developments and fears onto imaginary societies and on how the authors use different narrative techniques and literary traditions to construct their dystopias.
