DozentIn: Elen Le Foll, M.A., M.Sc.

Veranstaltungstyp: Workshop

Ort: 11/214

Zeiten: Termine am Freitag, 28.02.2020 09:00 - 13:00

Beschreibung: How do I give clear instructions? Should I say "at the spot" or "on the spot"? Is my pronunciation comprehensible? How should I address my students?

These are some of the questions we will explore in this practical workshop on how to teach English in English. This workshop is free-of-charge for MA students enrolled at Osnabrück University and currently training to become English teachers (for primary, all secondary school forms and vocational schools). Places are first come first served, with a maximum of 30 participants. Please note that no ETCS points will be awarded for participation.

The workshop leader, Elen Le Foll, is a Brit with more than a decade's worth of experience as an English as a foreign/second language teacher. She has taught and observed teaching in primary schools, language schools and universities in both the UK and Germany. Over the past years, she has collected and analysed typical mistakes German native speakers frequently make when teaching in English. These include difficulties with typical school collocations, phrasal verbs, the use of prepositions in giving instructions, as well as register and pronunciation issues, all of which will be covered in the workshop.

The workshop will include many practical activities for you to try out your newly gained knowledge in a safe environment. It will also be a chance to get personal feedback with the aim of boosting your confidence as an English teacher.
