Beschreibung: This workshop is for MA students of who need to write a paper in Literary and/or Cultural Studies. It is particularly suitable for students who did not receive their B.A. degree at Osnabrück University, but is open to everyone who would like to consolidate their knowledge of English academic writing. The workshop consists of two main parts. The first part focusses on features of analytical, interpretive and argumentative writing in the context of Literary and Cultural Studies. It draws attention to the rhetorical functions that are relevant to this kind of writing and the language that is typically associated with these functions. The second part introduces students to hands-on techniques and strategies that are useful in different phases of the writing process. Participants are encouraged to bring their own material (preliminary notes, outlines, drafts, etc.) to work with during the second part of the workshop.
