Beschreibung: Are you sometimes lost for words? Is everything Greek to you? Or do you simply want to expand your range of vocabulary in order to improve your academic achievements? This course will help with all of the above. We will cover academic vocabulary and phrases that are relevant across all disciplines and are frequently used in typical situations of academic writing and speaking. Moreover, you will learn about strategies and resources that allow you to systematically increase your subject-specific word power. Finally, we will deal with those areas of vocabulary usage that non-native speakers of English often struggle with, such as false friends, collocation or synonymy. By the end of the course, you will be able to make appropriate use of vocabulary and phrases relevant to your field of study, struggle less with complicated texts and lectures, and be empowered to continuously expand your lexical repertoire.
