Beschreibung: This course is an "advanced introduction" to Translation Studies. It takes a practical approach to addressing some of the particular difficulties of rendering German into English, but operates on the premise that it is indeed possible for non-natives to produce expert translations. If all goes to plan, you will have supporting video tutorials to watch to introduce you to specific problem areas and theories, and class time will be spent looking at texts in the light of the problems, strategies and approaches you have seen in the videos. Students will lead a discussion in class and submit a paper for correction at the end of the course.
