DozentIn: Jatin Wagle

Veranstaltungstyp: Seminar

Ort: 41/112

Zeiten: Di. 14:00 - 16:00 (wöchentlich)

Beschreibung: This course is part of the ANG-B1 module, to be taken by bachelor’s students in their second semester in combination with the lecture course conducted by me on “English and American Literatures and Cultures: A Historical Survey”. Please note that students MUST take the “Survey” and the “Concepts and Interpretations” courses with the SAME instructor. Your performance in both the courses will be assessed via a combined exam, tentatively scheduled on Thursday, 07.07.2022.
This biweekly IN-PERSON seminar seeks to introduce students to some of the salient developments in modern Anglo-American literary criticism, by taking up introductory texts that present the overviews of specific theoretical approaches and then by attempting to read literary texts with the aid of these theoretical conceptions. In other words, each of the course sessions will be based on our readings of the text(s) allotted for that particular session.
Our IN-PERSON seminar will have regular, BIWEEKLY sessions. As part of your assigned work in this online seminar, all the course participants would need to carefully read through the reading/text allotted for a session and prepare their responses to guiding questions accompanying the readings. We will discuss your answers in the biweekly sessions. Please keep in mind that I will not provide any prepared or finalized answers to the questions. You will need to take notes, draft your own answers and reach your own conclusions on the basis of our discussions in our meetings.
