Beschreibung: In this V2-course we will have a closer look at how the sound system of English works. Although our main focus will be on phonology, we will start with a phonetic description of English sounds in order to establish an empirical basis for our analyses. After this short excursion we will turn our attention to the "smallest meaning-distinguishing units" (i.e. the phonemes) in English as well as larger structures like the syllable.
This class is designed for 4LP students. Only under particular circumstances, such as a particular interest in the topic, you may approach me about completing this class for 2LP.
