DozentIn: Jens Bonk-Wiltfang, M.A.

Veranstaltungstyp: Seminar

Ort: 41/111

Zeiten: Mo. 10:00 - 12:00 (wöchentlich)

Beschreibung: Science Fiction has become one of the most popular genres of fiction in the United States, whether in the form of super hero movies or young adult novels. In this course, we will discuss a selection of critically acclaimed American Science Fiction from the 2010s. The course will focus on the primary material and involve in-depth analysis of the material, which will hopefully enable us to understand what contemporary Science Fiction has to say about the United States (and the world), now that we live in the future that the writers of the "Golden Age" imagined in the 1940s and 50s. The following works will be discussed in this course:

- Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie
- Ms. Marvel Volume 1 by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona
- The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin
- The Expanse Season 1 by Syfy
