Content:
Regardless of whether you are pursuing a career in academia or transitioning to industry, networking and visibility play a pivotal role in advancing your professional journey. Social media platforms offer a plethora of opportunities to complement, enhance, or initiate networking efforts while increasing your visibility. However, many individuals struggle to initiate or develop a strategic approach to leveraging these platforms effectively.

In light of this, our comprehensive workshop aims to address and provide practical guidance on the following key topics:

1. Realistic Networking and Visibility on Social Media: Understanding the possibilities and limitations when it comes to building connections and raising your profile through social media platforms.
2. Professional vs. Scientific Networking: Exploring the distinctions between professional networking, focused on industry connections, and scientific networking, centered on academic collaborations and research communities.
3. Best Practices, Dos and Don'ts, and Desired Netiquette: Learning the essential guidelines and etiquette for engaging with others on social media platforms, along with practical tips for maximizing your impact.
4. Creating Effective Posts: Understanding the elements of impactful and engaging posts, and discovering strategies to create content that resonates with your target audience.
5. Choosing the Right Platform: Evaluating different social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Mastodon, and identifying the one(s) that align best with your professional goals and target audience. Part of this will also be a critical perspective on Twitter/X, where it’s become increasingly difficult for researchers to discuss safely and reach intended audiences.
6. Tools for Streamlining Social Media Workflow: Exploring helpful tools and resources that can simplify your social media management, enabling you to optimize your efforts efficiently.

Join us for an interactive workshop where you will engage in insightful discussions, participate in practical exercises, and gain valuable knowledge and skills to strengthen your professional and scientific networking presence while boosting your visibility on social media.
