Beschreibung: Taking the poems discussed in the “Metaphysical Poetry” as a starting-point, we are going to look at metaphors and other images from a linguistic point of view, looking at theories of metaphor and traditions of rhetorical analysis, in order to find out how metaphors are constructed and how they work.
This course can only be taken in conjunction with the seminar on “Metaphysical Poetry”, and can only be used to complete the I- (or SI-) Modul. It is not a genuine linguistics seminar.
