Beschreibung:You know, well, actually, in this seminar we will focus on discourse markers and their functions in context. Like, do we use them just as a filler or like for a specific purpose, like, do they help us to organize speech and turns? Or like could we just leave them out? I mean, can we use the same marker in different situations or, you know, is this something only some of us do and others don’t? So, we will look at early and more recent studies on discourse markers and discuss and compare the findings of these studies. Oh, and we will also have a look at actual data together, spotting discourse markers and discussing their functions. Now before we do any of that there is the difficult task of defining discourse markers in the first place.
