Teaching Literary Shorts
DozentIn: Dr. Katharina Delius
Veranstaltungstyp: Seminar
Ort: nicht angegeben
Zeiten: Di. 10:00 - 12:00 (zweiwöchentlich, ab 19.10.2021) - Achtung: 2 Zeitstunden! 120 Minuten
Beschreibung: Literary shorts, such as short stories, flash fiction or short films, feature specific characteristics that can be of great value for the foreign language classroom. Their brevity, the limitations with regards to the number of characters and plot lines and the many silences (‘Leerstellen’) can encourage learners to get involved with literature and hereby with the foreign language in use.
This seminar aims at exploring the question of why and how teachers can use literary shorts in the EFL classroom. We will discuss possible approaches when dealing with the different kinds of literary shorts. Students will get the chance to develop their own teaching units which will be discussed within the seminar.
Please note that this seminar takes place fortnightly, but for 120 minutes. In between, the students work on specific learning tasks, the results of which serve as a basis for the next attendance session.
