Beschreibung: This Schreibwerkstatt workshop will cover issues of English academic writing for the natural and applied sciences. In particular, it will focus on presenting empirical research in seminar papers and lab reports.
Some of the points covered in this workshop will be:
• the IMRAD format (=Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion);
• condensed vs. extended descriptions of methods;
• rhetorical moves in results and discussion sections;
• describing tables, graphs and figures;
• useful academic collocations and phrases;
• general differences between German and English academic language.
Participants will be able to schedule further, individual consultations with the Schreibwerkstatt.
