Introduction to Literary and Cultural Studies

Beschreibung: This course is designed for first semester students of ANG-B-LK or ANG-B1.
We will have a look at the following topics (amongst others):
-different extracts from poetry and prose
-first attempts at interpretation
-stylistic devices
-points of view
-how to cite sources correctly
-how to deal with different works of reference
-how to write a term paper

Please acquire William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors in its Arden Shakespeare edition (edited by Kent Cartwright), ISBN 978-1904271246, as paperback edition.
In the second half of the course (after Christmas), you will be asked to give a short presentation on a topic connected to Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. All else will be discussed in course.
