Linguistic Productivity
DozentIn: Kim-Kristin Droste, M.Ed.
Veranstaltungstyp: Seminar
Ort: 15/113
Zeiten: Mo. 10:00 - 12:00 (wöchentlich)
Beschreibung: Why can I say 'heartlessness', but not 'darknessless'? Why is 'employee' the correct term for somebody being employed, but 'accompanyee' not for somebody being accompanied? And what is a wug?
This seminar answers all of the above questions and more by providing insight into linguistic productivity. Mainly focusing on morphological productivity, we will learn about qualitative and quantitative factors restricting and facilitating the productivity of a pattern. We will also learn how to conduct our own corpus study to empirically determine the productivity of a pattern.
