In this course we will take a closer look at the sound system of English. We will revisit concepts you already met in the introduction (e.g., phones, phonemes, allophones) and work on our transcription skills as an empirical basis for further phonological analyses. We will take a closer look at phonological variation and phenomena of connected speech.
