Beschreibung:This seminar starts with a general introduction to the topic of discrimination. We will read and discuss texts on topics such as oppression, bias, and racism. Moreover, we will explore the concept of intersectionality which may help to understand specific instances of discrimination. In a second step, the seminar focusses on relating the previously discussed theories and concepts to the domain of AI. Looking at different examples of discrimination by AI systems (e.g. through chatbots or face recognition), we will discuss why they may be especially prone to discriminatory practices.
